Mekeia started Exquisite Touch Events in 2014. She was inspired by a couple of local balloon artists, and developed a passion for balloon artistry after practicing and educating herself. Exquisite Touch Events is home-based, so Mekeia was able to focus on acquiring reliable equipment to successfully transform events. Exquisite Touch Events team prides themselves in providing professional, elegant, yet fun and customized balloon decor for birthday parties, weddings, baby/bridal showers, corporate events and more. They love unique themes and thinking outside of the normal trends with balloon décor/artistry. Balloons were once known for only children events and store fronts. They now can be used for a wide variety of events. Mekeia loves children events, but find that decorating adult events (birthday parties, weddings, anniversary parties, etc.) allows her to really show how elegant an event can turn out with balloons. Exquisite Touch Events also provides baby table rental for baby showers & DJ services.
Mekeia’s 3-year old son is her daily motivation and inspiration. She’s also blessed to have a very supportive husband and family that motivate her when times are challenging. Mekeia finds balloon decorating for birthday parties, weddings, baby/bridal showers, corporate events, etc., therapeutic and motivating as well. In addition to saving events, Mekeia also saves lives as a U of M breast oncology (cancer) nurse. This mommy, wife, business owner and nurse enjoys and is dedicated to all her titles.
CHALLENGES TURN VICTORY
One of Mekeia’s biggest challenges is getting clients to understand that balloon decor is a luxury as with many other event services, however balloon decor for birthday parties, weddings, baby/bridal showers, corporate events, etc., can be a beautiful, elegant enhancement if executed properly. Mekeia informs her clients and potential clients to always assess quality over quantity, emphasizing that cheaper doesn’t always mean better. Mekeia acknowledges that everyone isn’t your client.
